LISTENING

The TOEIC (Test of English for International Communication) is a standardized Englishtest oriented towards professionals and companies.

OWNERSHIP

The TOEIC is a product of ETS, an American non-profit organization, which also makes the TOEFL, another standardized English test geared towards a more academic audience.

TOEIC LISTENING & READING

The TOEIC reading and listening test is the more popular of the two TOEIC tests. It is administered in test centers on paper and gives a score between 10 and 990. English reading skills and English listening skills are weighted equally on this test, with half of the final score coming from each.

TOEIC Format

  • Each candidate uses a pencil to mark answers on the answer sheet

  • The scores are determined by the number of questions answered correctly

  • Adding the two section scores together gives a total score on a scale ranging from 10 to 990

Test Length
The test lasts approximately 2 hours:

  1. 45 minutes for Section I
  2. 75 minutes for Section II

You’ll listen to a variety of questions and short conversations recorded in English, then answer questions based on what you heard.
